More than £20,000 has been raised so far for this year’s PC Neil Doyle and PC Dave Phillips 2021 Virtual Memorial Event.
Over 500 people walked, ran, rowed or cycled 13,298 metres on Saturday, 3 April, in both officer’s memory and to raise money for COPS.
Event organiser, Mark Hobin said: “I am completely overwhelmed by the response we’ve had, not only from everyone who has donated but to everyone who took part and those who helped co-organise the event too, it’s just been indescribable.
“I originally set a goal in my head to raise £10,000 but we’ve doubled that now, thank you to everyone for your selflessness, your kindness and your generosity.
“What drives the event forward are our heroes who have sadly made the ultimate sacrifice, their families and the strength they bring to us and in return the strength and solidarity everyone who has taken part has brought to them.
“I help to organise the event because of the unwavering and much needed support that COPS provides to members of our family when they need it the most.
“I also want to give a special mention to Sarah Doyle, Jo Moody, Leanne Hobin and Mark Cole, who are all inspirational and instrumental in the success of this event.
“2022 plans will shortly commence and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever, we are hoping to take the event worldwide.”
