Statement from CEO about the COPS Winter Ball 2026

Feb 9, 2026

Care of Police Survivors (COPS) would like to thank all our supporters, guests, and partners for their understanding following the unfortunate cancellation of the COPS Winter Ball 2026.

Lisa Meads, CEO of Care of Police Survivors, said:

“I would like to express my sincere thanks to all our supporters, guests and partners following the unfortunate cancellation of the Winter Ball.

In the interest of guest safety, the National Memorial Arboretum made the decision to cancel the event. Our team had been working closely with the venue in an effort to mitigate the situation and explore every possible option; however, the safety of our guests must always come first.

We fully appreciate the disappointment this will have caused, particularly given the enthusiasm and generosity our community shows year after year. Our team is now working to manage the practicalities arising from this decision, and we will be in touch with all guests next week to outline the next steps.

We would also like to express our gratitude for the many messages of support and understanding we have received. Your kindness and patience mean a great deal to all of us at Care of Police Survivors.”

The COPS Winter Ball is always a highlight in our calendar, and we are deeply grateful for the continued support shown by everyone involved. Your understanding and encouragement during this time reinforce the strength of the COPS community and the shared commitment to supporting bereaved police families.

We will provide further updates as soon as possible.
