Every year we’re incredibly grateful to the organisers for the support and donations that they provide to our charity, which play a pivotal role in helping us to continue offering support to the families of police officers who died on duty.
We asked Police Unity Tour founder Chief Superintendent Rob Atkin MBE, who is involved in organising the this year’s virtual event, to explain why he’s so passionate about supporting Care of Police Survivors (COPS):
“Police officers and staff across the UK since the inception of policing undertake the most difficult job, running towards danger when others run away. All day, every day, our police officers and staff are protecting and serving our communities. Unfortunately, far too often officers and staff do not return home.
“Care of Police Survivors is an essential support service for families when their loved one is taken away. Through peer support, remembrance events and by providing access to counselling, COPS tirelessly helps those families after an officer’s death.
“For many this support is a true lifeline, and we collectively should do all we can to support their work. Money raised from the Police Unity Tour does this. As the largest donor to COPS it helps to support many of COPS’ events and contributes towards its future plans and goals.”
