Bluelight Cycling Club raise more than £20,000 for COPS

The Bluelight Cycling Club have raised more than £20,000 for COPS.

The club, the country’s first ever cycling club for all emergency services, was launched outside of New Scotland Yard earlier this year.

To mark the occasion more than 50 riders left The Mall in London to embark on a charity ride across England, cycling 250 miles to raise money for COPS.

After a four-day cycle ride through Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Surrey, the group returned to The Mall at the National Police Memorial.

A cheque was recently presented to survivor Donna Cox, sister of PC Jo-Ann Jennings from Essex Police and COPS CEO Tim Buckley for £20,770 by chief Superintendent Roy Smith, on behalf of the Bluelight Cycling Club.

Chief Superintendent Smith, from the Met Police, said: “I continue to be amazed by the tremendous support to so many survivors by COPS, and am hugely grateful for the brilliant donation made by the Bluelight Cycle Club.”

Tim Buckley said: “I want to thank everyone in the Bluelight Cycling Club who organised the events and everyone who took part and raised this amazing amount of money for us. It’s an extraordinary amount and will help us to continue our work.”
