Proud to be part of Serve and Protect credit union 20th anniversary celebrations
Care of Police survivors were honoured to be invited to Serve and Protect 20 Anniversary celebrations that took place at Solihull Motorcycle Museum Solihull.
The evening celebrated staff and supporters of the credit union who have helped form and grow the credit union from its inception to what it is today. The awards hosted by Royston Martis from Martis Media were a poignant tribute to some longstanding members. They highlighted the dedication and appreciation that the CEO – Paul Norgrove, has for the credit union.
The evening included the wonderful West Midlands Police Band and voices from the Birmingham Community Gospel Choir.
Emma Wallbank, Engagement and communications manager of COPS, said:
“The evening was a delight, and I was proud to attend on behalf of Care of Police Survivors and show our appreciation for the continued fundraising that is carried out to support the charity. We are lucky to be one of Serve and Protect’s chosen charities.”
Care of Police Survivors recently won the Protect and Serve “Play and Give” campaign thanks to supporters logging their miles from the Police Unity Tour.
Director at Serve and Protect Credit Union, Peter Watson said:
“It was 1987 when I first heard about Credit Unions. I was working full-time at Merseyside Police Federation office and a development officer called to encourage us to start a Credit Union for the force. We were a success and realised that we could do more if we merged with other established police credit unions.”
Current Serve and Protect Chair, Nigel Rabbitts, had the following to say:
“Serve and Protect grew out of the Police Credit Union, which represented and offered financial resilience to police officers. It was felt we could expand that to cover as many blue light and emergency services as possible, and that has been our goal since.”

- NHS Charities Together
