🔵🕯 Honouring Our Fallen Heroes: Light the Lakes was held on June 23rd and 24th 🔵🕯
The Light the Lakes event, was filled with gratitude and remembrance for the brave police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our communities. This year was no different as we remembered our Blue Angels and paid tribute to these heroes in an extraordinary way.
On June 23rd and 24th, we came together to Light the Lakes, illuminating the night skies with a heartfelt display of solidarity and appreciation. Lighting blue flares has been previous years tradition as survivors honoured the unwavering courage and dedication of our fallen officers. This year due to dry weather conditions the decision was made to protect the fells and use blue lights instead.
Survivors, families, supporters, and the police family battled through wind and rain to reach the summit of Latrigg, and the poignant tribute was as powerful as ever on this 20th anniversary of the Care Of The Police Survivors charity. As we stood united in gratitude for the officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice and shone a light on their memory, we reminded families and colleagues that they are not alone in their grief.
Together, we can keep the flame of remembrance burning brightly and ensure that the sacrifices of our fallen heroes are never forgotten.
Through Care Of Police Survivors (COPS) the families of those we have lost remain supported.
Shared Services Connected Ltd has provided invaluable support to help us organise this event.

The Light The Lakes event sees teams of police officers, staff, retired officers and police friends light up the famous Wainwright fells of Cumbria in memory of colleagues that have died.

“Once again this was an extraordinary event. Despite the weather on Friday night it was very emotional having more than 20 survivors on Latrigg Fell. I am always humbled by the efforts all the climbers put in and I was bowled over by how many attempted and conquered their peaks despite the ferocious wind and rain. Vinny and Laura and all the volunteers who make the event happen did it again. It is a firm favourite in the COPS fundraising calendar.”
