Riders from the Blue Light Cycling Club recently took part in a special cycle ride raising more than £16,000 for COPS.
Over 50 riders set off from the Mall in London on a four-day tour that saw them cover 300 miles to Northampton, Cambridge, Surrey, and back to London.
The group, with COPS very own PC Eddie Walker, finished at the Mall outside the National Police Memorial where a wreath was laid for fallen officers.
Survivor Daisy Godfrey, daughter of PC Ian Godfrey who died on duty in June 1999, joined the riders.
Daisy, who was just six-years-old when her father died, admitted it was incredibly challenging.
“I’ve never done anything like this before, so I was a bit nervous,” she said.
“Everyone taking part though was so wonderful. We all pulled together as a team and made sure we did it.
“It was definitely no weekend away. It was incredibly challenging, but it was for such a good cause.
“A massive part of my life has been grief and not accepting my dad being gone, but COPS are an incredible charity and have helped us through some hard and tough times.”
Daisy, who took part in last year’s virtual sponsored cycle, added: “The whole thing has been exhausting. Four days cycling really takes it out of you – all I’ve wanted to do since finishing is sleep!
“It’s not put me off though, I’m already thinking about doing another cycle ride.”
