Care of Police Survivors (COPS) today announces key transitions within its Board of Trustees. Sir Peter Fahy will be stepping down as Chair of Trustees at the end of March 2025. After nine years of dedicated service to the charity—first as a trustee in 2016 and later as Chair from 2019—Sir Peter has played a pivotal role in ensuring that survivors remain at the heart of the charity’s mission.
Sir Peter’s long-standing commitment to COPS was driven by his personal experience as Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police following the on-duty deaths of PC Fiona Bone and PC Nicola Hughes in 2012. His guidance has strengthened the charity’s support network for bereaved families, ensuring that those left behind are always a part of the policing family.
From the end of March 2025, Chief Constable Chris Noble of Staffordshire Police will assume the role of Chair of Trustees. Chris, a current trustee of COPS, has been a committed advocate for the charity and the support it provides to survivors. Alongside this change, Chief Constable John Robins of West Yorkshire Police will join the Board as a trustee. John has been a longstanding supporter of COPS, demonstrating unwavering dedication to the charity’s mission. He brings with him a wealth of experience and a heartfelt commitment to ensuring that families affected by the loss of a police officer or staff member receive the support they deserve.
Sir Peter Fahy said:
“It has been a privilege to serve as Chair of Trustees for COPS, working alongside so many dedicated individuals to support those affected by the loss of a police officer or police staff member. Over the past nine years, I have seen the charity grow because of the commitment of survivors, the staff team, and supporters across the police family. While I am stepping down as Chair, my commitment to COPS remains unwavering, and I look forward to continuing my support in other ways.”

Incoming Chair of Trustees, Chief Constable Chris Noble, added:
