Lucy goes to great heights for COPS

Big thanks to Lucy Carlyon who has raised more than £1,000 for COPS by taking part in a three peaks challenge – almost two years in the making.

Lucy, along with friends, signed up for the challenge (to scale Ben Nevis, Snowdon, and Scafell Pike) before the pandemic hit at the start of 2020.

Since then, and in between lockdowns, Lucy had been training only recently got to complete her long-awaited challenge.

She said: “It’s taken a long time, but I finally did it.

“There were moments of disbelief, when I just couldn’t belief what I was doing, or what I had done.”

Lucy managed to scale Ben Nevis, and Snowdon, but only managed a third of Scafell Pike, having to turn back due to delays and dangerous weather conditions.

She said it was disappointing not to scale all three but was overjoyed with what she had accomplished.

“I’m so proud of myself for completing this challenge,” she said

“I was really nervous before starting out. I felt there was a pressure to do well, not necessarily a bad thing, something that made me want to carry on when things got tough.”

Lucy, who works for West Mercia Police, added: “I chose to raise money for COPS because it’s such an amazing charity.

“I had read about what happened to PC Andrew Harper. We had a mascot with us, and we called him Harper. It was a small thing, but a constant reminder of what I was doing this challenge for. The thought of all the families that COPS can help definitely pushed me on.”

Lucy raised more than £1,000 for COPS.

She said: “I’m so grateful for everyone who donated, thank you all.”
