A big congratulations to Tracy Walker who has been successful in appointment to the role of survivor trustee.
Tracy, who has a long-standing involvement with COPS, said she only applied for the role after ‘loads of decision making and self-doubt’.
On finding out the role was hers she admitted she was ‘pleasantly surprised’.
“I didn’t really know who the other candidates were, so you never know,” she said.
“It is nice that COPS would think they could trust me.
“I hope I do the post justice and bang the drum for all the survivors out there while also doing what is best for both the charity and all of you.
“I’m really looking forward to it!”
The board of trustees is made up of an equal mix of survivors, police representatives and independent advisors, who combine perspective and experience to ensure matters are considered from a wide range of standpoints.
This means these is a balance of skills and specialisms which can be called upon to lead on specific pieces of work where required.
Tracy said one of her main aims will be to get into forces to promote what COPS is about, and having a forum to be heard to ultimately do good things.
“A lot of survivors know who I am already as I’ve been involved with the charity for a long time now, and I hope they realise my passion for COPS and its importance to all,” she added.
“Since 2004 I have seen COPS evolve into a charity that in 2003 was the start of a vision that Christine Fulton had along with the late Jim McNulty.
“May their vision continue in the years to come and may I support its growth however and whenever I can in the next three years, and after my tenure in this post.”
