COPS Patron, Penny Lancaster, will be joining the charity and taking on Light the Lakes 2021 in June.
The newly qualified Special Constable will be in attendance for this year’s 3am light up, where participants light a blue flare around the summit cairn of their peak in memory of all fallen police officers and staff who have died on duty.
More than 1,000 participants will be climbing one of the 214 Wainwright Fells in the Lake District this year along with Penny and her niece, who also has ambitions of becoming a police officer.
Organiser of Light the Lakes, Vinny Wagjiani, added: “Not only has Penny Lancaster volunteered to become a Police Officer working as a special in the City of London she is also a Patron for COPS and provides a tremendous amount of support to a charity I hold dear to me.
“The event is truly honoured to have Penny join us at Light the Lakes 2021 who will be climbing a peak to remember police officers who have died in the line of duty.
“I am also extremely humbled by the participants taking part this year with all the fundraising and awareness for COPS.”
