Fundraiser Mark meets mammoth milestone!

Jan 10, 2021

Mark Robinson, a former police officer and regular COPS fundraiser, has completed an 874-mile indoor bicycle ride to replicate the journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats. His goal was to complete the ride in daily increments over his festive break while raising money for COPS in the process.

Mark reached his target after 27 days of cycling, raising more than £550 in the process – and he even managed to have day or two’s rest before he started at work again in 2021.

Mark said: “I have a few aches and pains now I’m finished, but I’m glad to have reached my target. The first couple of days were tough while I was still working, but being off over Christmas made a big difference, and I was able to total around 50 miles a day.”

Mark kept a daily log of his progress on his Just Giving page and used the platform to let survivors tell their stories in their own words about the role of COPS, something he worked with Christine Fulton to organise.

Of the idea, Mark said: “I wanted to help raise awareness of the importance of the charity too, and tried to get people to read about COPS, and not just my words, but those of the survivors. That’s why I dedicated each day to an officer who had died on duty.”

Thanks to Mark for his incredible efforts in raising this total.
