Become a Volunteer

To continue our work and to reach out to more survivors, we need your help. With only a handful of dedicated COPS staff, there is only so much we can physically do by ourselves, and it is difficult to be in so many places at once.

This is where you come in. We need volunteers to help us do the following:

distribute our COPS quarterly newsletter (be it putting bundles together and shipping them in the post, or receiving them and simply leaving them in your police force canteen, or by telling people to view it from our website)

display our COPS lapel pin posters (available in both PDF and MS WORD format. Choose the MS WORD version to add your contact details to the poster before printing it out)

become a COPS pin seller (see Become a Fundraiser)

help out at future COPS events (for example, to set up and pick people up from the station)

run a COPS project on our behalf (perhaps to run a COPS stall at a conference or police show)

use our specially printed COPS carrier bags (to help us with advertising)

tell us about any police fetes or open days across the UK to which we can take the COPS American Police Car (for publicity and fundraising purposes).

Most importantly, we need you to pass on our contact details whenever you come across someone who might need our support. By far the greatest obstacle to COPS success is that of tracing survivors who have been bereaved through losing a loved one in a line of duty death. We have ongoing difficulty reaching people, and alerting them to the existence of COPS. Tell people about us.
