How does it work?
- Peer Support
The mainstay of COPS is our peer support network. This network comprises of survivors from around the UK willing to assist others in a practical way.
Our newsletters keep survivors informed of on-going events and of new developments that may be of interest to them. We also make extensive use of email and social media to keep survivors and supporters informed and to raise our profile.
Each summer, we hold our Annual Survivors Weekend at the National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield, Staffordshire. Survivors are joined by representatives from the police family and the general public to remember those officers who have lost their lives on duty. Further events are held throughout the year, tailored to the requirements of specific survivor groups, to give family members the opportunity to gain support from the only other people who can truly say 'I understand'.
