The mainstay of COPS is the peer support network. This network is comprised of survivors from around the UK, willing to assist others in a practical way.
A quarterly newsletter keeps survivors informed of ongoing events, and of new developments that may be of interest to them.
On the last weekend in July each year, COPS holds their Annual Survivors Weekend at the National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield. Survivors are joined by police and public to remember those officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Looking ahead, COPS plans to develop programmes especially suited to helping child survivors. Exposing children to others who understand their loss will provide an environment in which they will be able to confront both past and future.
By drawing on the experiences of existing survivors, we can enhance the help that is available to those who suffer such loss in the future.
